Afferent Labs

Newsletter Agent · free beta

New papers on your research, read for you.

Describe what you work on in plain English. On your schedule, an AI agent searches PubMed, Europe PMC, Semantic Scholar, and arXiv, judges how central each new paper is to your interest, and emails you a short digest with links to open-access copies.

Free during the beta. No card needed.

Your Research Digest: checkpoint resistance in solid tumors3 new papers this week · 2 summarized
  1. High relevance Patterns of resistance after immune checkpoint therapy Sample study · Open copy: author manuscript

Compares tumor samples taken before and after treatment, links changes in antigen presentation to resistance, and notes the small cohort as a limit.

  2. High relevance Tumor microenvironment shifts during anti-PD-1 relapse Sample study · Publisher page and library link

Paired biopsies track immune and stromal cells as tumors stop responding.

  3. Medium relevance Immune cell states in treated solid tumors Sample study · Linked without a summary
Illustration with fictional papers. Real digests list authors, journal, date, and DOI.

How it works

From one paragraph to a weekly digest

You write what you care about once. The agent does the searching and skimming, and tells you which papers are worth your time.

  1. Write your interests

One paragraph per newsletter. Terms in a paragraph are combined, so “multiple myeloma and daratumumab” is one digest and “lung cancer” is another.

  2. We search the literature

PubMed, Europe PMC, Semantic Scholar, and arXiv, with duplicates merged. Turn off the sources your field doesn’t need.

  3. Every paper gets scored

A model judges how central your interest is to each paper. The top papers get a short summary; the rest are linked.

  4. A digest arrives on schedule

Daily or weekly, at the hour you pick. If nothing relevant turned up, a short note says so, so you know it ran.

For labs

Read together, not just alone

Journal Club

Lab members propose papers, discuss them, and a lab manager schedules what gets presented.

Your library’s access

Add your library’s EZproxy prefix and every paywalled link starts at your institution’s sign-in. We never ask for library credentials.

Start from what you’ve saved

Import topics from a public Zotero library or a Google Scholar BibTeX export instead of writing interests from scratch.

What to expect

Honest about what it does

  • Summaries can be wrong. They’re written by an AI model to help you triage. Every entry links to the paper, so check it before you cite it.
  • Only to you, only once confirmed.Digests go to the address you signed up with, after you confirm it. Nobody can sign you up.
  • Open access, labeled. We show the best open copy OpenAlex reports, with its version and license. “No open copy” means none was reported, not that none exists.

Spend your reading time on the right papers
